As I sit outside and feel the sun wash upon my face, I can’t help but smile.
The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, and the sun is shining. Its days like these that make me feel as if there is nothing bad in this world.
I wish this was true.
Bad thoughts have a funny way of intruding upon the mind. They mostly come when we least expect it.
This causes me to push myself to enjoy every day; unfortunately, pushing myself to enjoy the day causes me to miss out on all the beauty this world has to offer.
I need to relax more. I need to breathe. I need to enjoy everything one step at a time.
You see, good and bad days are drastically different for me.
A good day is one without fear, without loneliness. A bad day is overwhelming. A bad day is not getting out of bed. A bad day is reflecting on everything that I’ve lost.
It’s fascinating to me that our sanctuary can disappear at a moment’s notice if we aren’t grounded in our faith.
For those of you going through a bad day, you have my prayers. Don’t worry, the sunlight will find you eventually. Good days are just beyond the horizon.
If you’re having a good day, then I urge you to enjoy it. Slow down and take it in. Force yourself to think, to reflect, and to appreciate how far you’ve come. Prepare for the journey ahead.
